Desert
Spring Vacation Bible School
spotlighted in Las Vegas Review Journal
By John
Przybys LVRJ August 8, 2006
It looks like Indiana Jones' rec room. Call it
Mayan Lite, the decorating scheme in which the sanctuary of Desert
Spring United Methodist Church has been decked out for this year's
edition of vacation Bible school.
Against the wall, a painted backdrop features
illustrations of wood and stone walls. At the front of the altar, there's a
drawing of a sort of rock ladder. (Click the link below to read the rest of

NEW
at Desert Spring United Methodist Church
Desert Spring United Methodist Church is now presenting a new Contemporary
Worship Service, each and every Sunday at 10:30am. Child Care is
available.
This service is something different in form, but still faithful to
Scripture and tradition, simple yet strong in the praise and worship
of our Lord. It is presented in a very informal and relaxed
atmosphere—the dress is casual. We use contemporary praise and
worship music as the catalyst that helps us focus on Christ through
song. We don't want anyone to feel that they have to meet certain
expectations to attend. The message is relevant to daily life and
grounded in Scripture.
We think you will find this worship experience something you will
want to share with family and friends, so join us! You are welcome
here at Desert Spring United Methodist Church Traditional Services
are offered Sunday's at 7:30am and 9:00am .
"Four
Family Dinners" group at Desert Spring spreads food and fellowship
Groups of four families at Desert Spring UMC were
formed at the beginning of the summer and encouraged to meet four
times this year to share a meal, fellowship, and fun. The families
were matched based on family type (e.g., singles, couples, families
with young kids, families with older kids, retirees) and location in
town.
Each family had an opportunity to host the others
at their house or a selected location. The host family provided the
main dish and notified the others of the date, time, location, and
what to bring. Each group determined their own meeting time. It was a
great way to find a small group in a big church.
Additional "Four Family Dinner" groups will be
established in 2007. Contact
